No, not that kind perverts. So, I showed up at Gamestop at about quarter of ten, and was the third person in line. Third! There was much geekery and nerding and I was the oldest person there for the longest time, at the dried up age of 28. After waiting, and chatting, and discussing PvP, and raiding, and all that good stuff, they opened! Hurray!
I walk inside, and give them my phone number for my preorder, and pick up a third copy for a guildmate who’s local that preordered from Circuit City(they gave him a delivery date of Dec 22nd, he cancelled). So, they give me my total, I swipe my card….declined. WTF?! I swipe it again…declined. They run it as credit….declined. Pwned.
So, I ran off to find an ATM, and call Sharon to have her call them and find out how late they’re letting people in, and find out it was happening to everyone. Every card that was swiped was declined. I lost my third spot in line for no good reason! Argh!
However, I found an ATM, scored my copies of Wrath, and am now installing. Happy! Anyone else have horror stories of Wrath day?

With the release of Wrath of the Lich King looming on the horizon(ZOMG ELEVEN HOURS), I find myself looking back over the time I have spent playing World of Warcraft, and quite a lot of it, at that. However, looking back, I honestly can’t say that I am regretful of the majority of my time spent in game. A lot of people like to talk about how WoW players have no lives, are wasting their time on the game, etc.
In looking back, and considering how much time I have spent playing this game, and how much enjoyment I have gotten out of it, and then factor in the cost of the game, it becomes pretty obvious.
And there I go, sidetracking myself. The reason I am writing this post is more in regards to history than cost effective means of entertainment. So, here we go.
Four years ago, seems like forever. I played around in the beta, and bought WoW a month after it came out, since money was too tight right at launch. I rolled a human paladin, and got it up to level 20 before getting frustrated with the playstyle, and slow, slow, slow killing speed. So I went and rolled a dwarf hunter, who was the first character I ever raided on.
January, 2007. At this point, I had a 60 dwarf hunter, 60 night elf male, 60 gnome warlock, and 60 night elf druid. TBC launched, and I stormed through Outlands with my old guild, ransacking demons and fel orcs and naga for the glory of the Alliance. I remember, shortly before I took a long break from playing, attempting Karazhan and Gruul’s, and wiping horribly. This was before we really knew what the gear requirements were like, almost no one had the rep for heroics yet, and we were still trying to figure out how to raid in the days of 10 and 25 mans. Now, I look at my old guild, and they’ve merged with another guild to become one of the bigger progression guilds on the server.
November, 2007. I get back into playing the game, this time dragging Sharon into it with me. At this point, I can definitely say that I have not looked back since. Being able to share the game with someone I love, and being able to level and farm and grind and run raids with someone across the room to vent to, laugh with, and in general enjoy the game with is one of the most rewarding experiences to be found in World of Warcraft, in my opinion.
November 12th, 2008. Here I sit, anxiously awaiting the work day to be over, ready to dive into the latest xpack, at a midnight release no less. Last November, I rerolled Horde because Sharon preferred them. Now I’m rerolling DK because they’re awesome. I’m not going to make this a yearly thing, I swear.
As an aside, if any of you five people who read this are going to be at the Arsenal Mall in Watertown, MA for Gamestop’s midnight release, I’ll be the heavyset guy with beard and glasses, black wool coat and black hawaian shirt…screw it, I’ll put up a picture when I get home. Although the black with red highlights Patriot’s hat might be a good distinguisher.

So, if any of you out there are completely psychopathic, and have some strange desire to meet at least half of the dynamic duo here at RaidedM, then you are in luck. I will be at the midnight opening of the GameStop at the Arsenal Mall in Watertown, MA. Sharon would like very much to attend as well, but that would involve trying to find a babysitter to cover from 10pm to 1am, which is…unlikely, at best. More details tomorrow, hopefully.

So, I got so caught up in the election, that I completely screwed up NaBloPoMo. However, I’m going to try and keep going with posting every day.
Sadly, today I don’t have a real post done yet, so instead, you get a link to one of the rockingest webcomics out there. It’s about zombies. And people who kill them.

So, I was doing dailies tonight, running around the Isle as a Crit Chicken of Death, and I guess it hadn’t really occurred to me just how insane Boomkin damage has become. Is this going on with all of the other classes, as well? I’ve primarily been playing my resto shaman since the patch, and doing dailies on my druid was crazy fun. Almost nothing that did the melee thing was able to hit…no roots needed. Starfire, starfire, moonfire, dead. And that’s when the first starfire didn’t crit. I actually one-shotted a Blood Knight with a starfire crit. It was pretty insane.
Bring it, Ret Pallies. Just don’t hit me in the face.
P.S. As an aside, flipping through the wow blogosphere, at first I thought some of the QQ I was seeing about pally nerfs was ridiculous. I saw at least a couple posts that were pure whining about Ret being nerfed, and this was when Ret was obviously and retardedly overpowered. However, that said, the Ret pally(and pally in general) nerfs have gotten out of hand, and I really hope that things get turned around, and soon. Ret pallies were stupid when 3.0.2 first came out. Now, they seem to be getting closer and closer to becoming retardins again, and that’s not cool.

So, in preparation for my upcoming main-switch, and in the hopes of being able to catch up to Northrend as fast as humanly possible, I’ve begun banking some things to assist with leveling, and I figured I would share that list here, for anyone else considering doing the Death Knight thing.
First things first, there are a variety of items that turn in for experience that are not BoP, and can be farmed by a higher level toon for a low level toon. On my list are 30 Crypt Fiend Parts, 30 Bone Fragments, 300 Runecloth(more than that when you factor in what I will need for First Aid), 10 Unidentified Plant Parts, 10 Mature Spore Sacs, 6 Bog Lord Tendrils, 3 Pair of Ivory Tusks, and 10 Oshu’gun Crystal Fragments. The reason for the runecloth, crypt fiend parts, and bone fragments? I expect the DK starter zone to be rather crowded on Wrath day. And, after a couple hours, I expect Hellfire Peninsula to be just as bad. So, my plan is to go from 58 to as close to 60 as possible in WPL doing cauldron quests. Doing the cauldron quests, and some other Argent Dawn quests(Defenders of Darrowshire, A Plague Upon Thee) should be enough to get me up to Friendly with AD, which will open up the turn-ins in Light’s Hope Chapel. I’ll also hop over to all the capital cities, and turn in cloth to all of the factions for the xp.
Next up on my list is items to stockpile for leveling quality of life improvements. This main consists of a few stacks of healing pots, 2 stacks of Onslaught Elixirs, a bunch of runecloth and netherweave cloth for bandages, and 5 stacks of Ravager Dogs. I may swap out the Onslaughts for Elixirs of Major Strength, and the Ravager Dogs for Roasted Clefthoof. Going with Major Strength will give me 10 more AP, and I’ll also get some parry from the str, which will at least help a little with how much damage I’m taking. And considering I plan on AoEing my way through a lot of Outland, less damage is a good thing.
And the final bit on my list, largely due to the help of Sharon. A bunch of runecloth and netherweave cloth for skilling up First Aid, and enough metal to get myself Outland capped on Blacksmithing. I fully intend for my Death Knight to be a tank, and with some of the new shinies I’ve seen with Blacksmithing, plus socketing, it seems like a pretty awesome choice for tradeskills. Also, I’m holding out high hopes for great tanking gear from Armorsmithing, although I’m not going to pick one way or the other until later on.
So, that’s more or less it. I would love to see some comments from people on anything I’m missing, and I hope this helps some people out there trying to do the same thing I am.

So, I have decided what I will be doing when Wrath launches. That’s right, I’m going to be main-switching to a Death Knight, and grinding towards 80. Over the next few days, I hope to get some posts up regarding my EJ research on Death Knights, and my general impressions of the class. Until then, an idea of what my prospective Unholy leveling builds look like.

I’m not 100% on leveling as Unholy, I may actually level as Blood. I need to play around with it a bit more, and see how Unholy solos(there’s been a lot of builds since I played around with Unholy, and I’m much more familiar with Blood soloing).
Also, I’m a tad late for my first post of NaBloPoMo, but I’m gonna count it anyway, since I haven’t been to bed yet. It totally counts!

So, while Sharon was browsing the official forums, she has uncovered a post that has revealed the true goal of the Lich King’s conspiracy, and this news will shake the very foundations of the world…..of warcraft.
This zombie plague, it is not about conquering Azeroth, nor about attacking the mighty adventurers who have plumbed the depths of Karazhan, slaughtered the naga and blood elves of Vashj and Kael’thas, and kicked Illidan’s skull in. No! This is economical sabotage, the likes of which has not been seen since 9999 gold stacks of linen cloth! Read about it here.
It makes me wonder, will the Lich King’s next cunning plot involve subprime mount loans?

So, it has come to my attention, through a guildmate speaking with a GM, that the Scourge invasion/zombie plague stuff is not actually on a timeline, but that the duration is based upon how many Scourge necropoli are killed by players during the Scourge invasion. What this means is, for those of you out there who are so vehemently against this whole zombie plague(I’m not, I think it’s fun and awesome), the power to end it is in your hands. Go out, and murder the minions of the Scourge. Lay waste to Shadows of Doom. Massacre oceans of undead., The faster you take out the invasion, the less you will have to deal with zombies.
This public service announcement has been brought to you by the letter Z and the number BRAAAAAAINS.

So, it’s been quite a while since I last posted, and there have been a couple major contributing factors to this.
One, I gave Warhammer a whirl. It was pretty cool for PvP, and having read over the highlights from Blizzcon, I’m happy to see that Blizz will be incorporating some of the features into WoW, notably queueing for battlegrounds anywhere. Unfortunately, Warhammer’s PvE was sorely lacking, and a game whose only major merits are PvP-based can’t hold my attention for very long.
Two, must…level…alts. Trying desperately to get alts up to 70 before the xpack hits. I should easily have my shaman up to 70 by the time xpack hits, and my mage should be well along the way. This makes me happy. Options are always a good thing, although I very likely will be rolling a Death Knight on launch day. I’m about 90% on that. Which leads me to thing the third…
Beta! Got into the beta a while back, and really enjoyed messing around with stuff. Actually spent very little time on my druid(never even hit 71), however I did tank a bit of Naxx on a premade druid, and that was fun. Most of what I did, however, was play around with DKs. I wanted to get a good feel for how the class plays, and decide whether or not I would play one, and where in the roster it would go. I am sorely tempted to make my Death Knight my new main, and make it the first thing I do on launch day. They’re extremely fun, with quite a few cool abilities.
So, the main reason I’m making this post is to break the radio silence. I plan on posting in the next day or so regarding Death Knights, so if you’re interested but don’t have access yet, I’ll be breaking down some of the cooler/more fun abilities and aspects of being a former servant of the Lich King.
